Alumni Hall

Located in the centre of the Laurier campus, Alumni Hall was originally constructed in 1967. It served as the residence of the president of Waterloo Lutheran University at the time, Dr. William J. Villaume.
A year later when Dr. Frank C. Peters became president and decided to continue to live in his own residence, the building was named Centre Hall.
The Office of Graduate Studies occupied the upper floor of the building under Dr. Andrew Berczi from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. The Building was used primarily as a reception area for alumni events through the early 1990s.
During Campaign Laurier 1994-1997, the Laurier Alumni Association donated $144,000 towards a $500,000 renovation to Alumni Hall, with the university contributing the remainder. A boardroom, vaulted reception area, an alumni awards gallery, and several offices were added. In 1998, the boardroom was officially named the Barney Strassburger Sr. Alumni Boardroom, after a generous donation from the Strassburger family.
In the summer of 2007, a two story addition was built. This created 10,000 square ft of functional space, enabling Public Affairs to unite with the rest of University Advancement. The ultimate goal of this project was to provide a well-designed, functional centre, of which our students, alumni, employees and friends can be proud.
Today the building is occupied with the Offices of Alumni Relations, Development, Student Recruitment, Public Affairs and University Advancement, and the facility is home to the business of the WLU Alumni Association.
