With more than 71,000 members, Laurier alumni can be found in over 85 countries around the world! Our Chapters assist you in re-connecting with other alumni and to the university, through events designed for networking, professional development or for the whole family.
Our Mission
The primary goal of every chapter is to promote the relationship and involvement between our alumni and the University, and between each other.
Many Alumni Chapters incorporate the following as basic aims and objectives:
Sociability - to provide a means by which WLU alumni can become acquainted, renew old friendships and make new ones.
WLU Updates - to provide a method by which alumni can be informed of any new changes as well as on-going developments of Wilfrid Laurier University.
Student/Alumni Awareness - to help the Alumni Relations Office with Student Send-Offs, involve the Student Alumni Association in Chapter events and inform Co-op Students of Chapter events in the city they are working in.
Publicity and Promotion - to cooperate in maintaining WLU's leadership and visibility among other leading Universities and institutions. To develop the Chapter to the point that it becomes an asset to the University, the Alumni Association and the community.
Career Exploration - to work in conjunction with WLU Career Services to assist students in career exploration through the ASK (Alumni Sharing Knowledge) program and a variety of other programs.
Fundraising - to help in the fundraising efforts of the University by recruiting contributors and volunteers; to cultivate current donors and maintain their interest, support and assist with specific University fundraising drives.
The WLU Alumni Association Connection
The WLU Alumni Association assists Chapters in various ways. Their mandate is to promote the development and maintenance of alumni chapters. The WLUAA Chapters Committee works within the WLUAA Strategic Plan with the following objectives:
- Strengthen alumni chapters presence
- Support the research committee work to receive alumni feedback for events
- Support the communications committee work to improve the alumni database
