President MessageParticipating in Laurier's Ongoing Development

.

The weather was again on our side as Laurier celebrated its 80th Homecoming in September.  Great conditions set the backdrop for the more than 13 000 people that attended the weekend's activities. Two new events, the Laurier Loop and an evening performance by comedian Russell Peters, were both great successes.  I would also like to thank all of our alumni who participated in the Alumni Engagement Survey this summer.  You provided valuable information that will assist the alumni association in its strategic planning.  It is also being used by the Envisioning Laurier Senate Committee, which is charged with recommending a new vision statement and a set of principles and values for the university.  I am pleased to serve on this committee and experience first-hand the dedication and passion that all university stakeholders have demonstrated in their efforts to ensure that Laurier charts the proper course for its future.

We recently released our 2007-08 Annual Report, which highlights the association's accomplishments from the past year and identifies our key priorities for 2008-09.  Copies of the report will be available at all WLUAA events and can also be viewed online at our new website www.laurieralumni.ca.  Please take a few moments and browse the new site.  You can keep up to date on WLUAA's activities, view the event calendar to see which of our many events might be of interest to you, and update your alumni profile.

Laurier is in the midst of many changes, in terms of its operational structure and strategy.  The WLUAA will continue to serve as the representative voice of all our alumni, and endeavor to ensure that we are active participants on your behalf in the ongoing development of the university.

Sincerely,

Tom Berczi, ’88, ‘93
