Laurier COVID-19 Emergency Fund

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on our students. As they struggle with an unprecedented end to the academic term, they remain Laurier's top priority.

The emergency fund has been established to help with three main areas of need, including:

Emergency financial relief – In the wake of the global pandemic, many students suddenly lost their home and their employment. Not all of them had another home to go to, and many were already in financially precarious situations. Donations to this fund will provide emergency financial assistance to students including first and last month’s rent, groceries, travel costs and other survival needs.

Health and wellness support – Wellness programming and support for Laurier students has already been a top priority, but within the “new normal” of social distancing, students’ mental and physical health is even more at risk. Laurier is committed to providing counselling and physical health programming online, and donations to this fund will help make these programs happen.

Teaching and learning – As classes and exams have shifted online, Laurier has needed to invest in increased technology to serve our students in this environment. A gift to this emergency fund will ensure continued student access and success through increased technological resources.

Donations to the Laurier COVID-19 Emergency Fund will provide much-needed supports to Laurier students during this challenging and critical time.

If you are in a position to do so, please consider supporting this fund. Thank you for thinking of Laurier students during this difficult and uncertain time.
