Support Ongoing Indigenization Efforts at Laurier

Indigenization is a key component of Laurier’s Strategic Academic Plan, and is an important step towards the University’s response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. This campaign has been created to give people a meaningful way to show solidarity for the University’s ongoing Indigenization efforts, and to have a chance to demonstrate their appreciation for the contributions of Laurier’s Indigenous students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members.

What is The Indigenous Knowledge Fund?

Contributions made to this campaign will go directly towards the continuation and expansion of Laurier’s Indigenous Knowledge Fund (IKF). As part of Laurier’s Indigenization efforts, the IKF was created to support students learning directly from Indigenous knowledge holders, both inside and outside of the classroom. This form of experiential and engaged learning about Indigenous topics from Indigenous people directly is an invaluable and important opportunity for Laurier students, faculty, and staff, and helps to build reciprocal relationships between Laurier community members and Indigenous community members.

The #LaurierIKF was just introduced this past year and has been a huge success bringing in 26 Indigenous knowledge holders to speak directly with Laurier students, faculty and staff.

We encourage all members of the Laurier community, and beyond, who feel strongly about the value and importance of ongoing Indigenization efforts at Laurier (and the academy more generally) to support this campaign. Any amount counts! Help us continue to #IndigenizeLaurier and show your support for the #LaurierIKF.

This campaign has been created by the Diversity and Equity Committee of Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty Association.
