Laurier International's Student Refugee Program (SRP) HAWKstarter Challenge

Donate to support Laurier student refugees as they pursue their university education.

"Without Laurier's WUSC SRP, I wouldn't be where I am today. My dreams, hopes and reality would’ve disappeared in the harsh life of refugee camp just like many other refugees who linger in the camp for years. I am no different than the refugees that are left behind, but I was among the lucky ones to have been chosen," said a Laurier International SRP student.

What is Laurier International's Student Refugee Program?

Through Laurier International, the Student Refugee Program (SRP) supports 10 students (seven students at our Waterloo campus and three students at our Brantford campus) as they pursue their Laurier degrees. Laurier International's SRP takes students from refugee camps and places them in Canada with permanent resident status and then ensures these students are given the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education. The program is led by a Student Committees on both Laurier campuses. This committee supports our refugee students in their transition and integration to Laurier.

By making a donation, you will be helping to support the settlement, tuition and living expenses of these refugee students over their four years of study at Laurier. The more support the WUSC student Refugees Program receives, the more students we, as a community, can help!

"Laurier's WUSC student refugee program has allowed me to regain faith in humanity. I was able to have new life, new home and things that are far greater to explain." - a Laurier International SRP student
