Christopher Triantafilou throwing football

Chris Triantafilou passed away suddenly on October 25, 2018.

Chris was well known in the university football circuit and served as head coach at University of Waterloo from 1998 to 2006. Chris attended Wilfrid Laurier University and played as a defensive back from 1978 to 1983. Chris truly lived and breathed football and you could always find him reviewing old game tape and mentoring young coaches in his spare time.

Chris, better known around the university as ‘Greek’ or 'Coach Tri' was an extremely caring, passionate and genuine person and made everyone around him feel important. His willingness to get to know people, while making personal connections, is what made him such a well-liked and respected person.

In addition, Chris was an active member of the local sport community, volunteering his time with many sport organizations, including helping to launch the Waterloo Region Predators. Chris felt fortunate to have helped so many young people get involved in athletics and recreation, so the Triatafilou family has set up the ‘Coach Tri Scholarship for Athletic Success’ to help students get involved in varsity sport.
